Series Definitions

• H (Heavy): Increased plate thickness for improved fatigue resistance. Dimensions remain identical to the standard series for the same pitch.
• HV (Heavy & High Tensile): Features through-hardened pins and plates. Offers up to 20% higher tensile strength than standard ANSI series.
• SP (Super Power): Special link plate design and through-hardened shanks. Offers 10% greater tensile strength and 25–30% increased impact resistance.
• HSP (Heavy Super Power): Combines H-series plate thickness with through-hardened pin material for even greater impact strength.
• UHSP (Ultra-High Super Power): Reinforced plates and special alloys. Delivers 150% higher tensile strength and 170% higher impact resistance than standard ANSI ranges.

Identification Checklist

1. Pitch (P): Measure the distance between pin centres.
2. Roller Diameter (d1): Confirm the maximum diameter of the roller.
3. Internal Width (b1): Measure the width between the inner plates.
4. Plate Thickness (T): Verify if it is a standard or reinforced ‘H’ variant.
5. Pin Type: Identify if standard, through-hardened (HV/SP), or hard chrome-plated (CP).

Identify your chain

To ensure an exact replacement for your heavy-duty chain, check the following:

• Chain Reference: Look for the ‘H’ suffix on the side plates (e.g., 12BH or 80H).
• Plate Thickness (T): Use a calliper to measure the thickness of the side plate; this is often the key differentiator for ‘H’ series chains.
• Pitch (P): Measure the distance between the centres of two consecutive pins.
• Roller Diameter (d1): Measure the external diameter of the roller.
• Width Between Plates (b1): Confirm the internal width where the sprocket tooth enters.
